Sudanese Minister invites Pak-entrepreneurs to invest in oil and gas sector March 13, 2013
Meeting at ICCI
 
Pakistan and Sudan, being brotherly countries are enjoying close and cordial relations and facing almost similar challenges which could be resolved in a better way by promoting bilateral cooperation in multiple fields. 

Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari, President Islamabad Chamber of commerce and Industry (ICCI) made these remarks during a meeting with H.E.Mr.Alshafie Ahmad Mohamed, Ambassador of Sudan in Pakistan and Dr. Awad Ahmed Algaaz, Minister for Petroleum, Sudan was also present on the occasion, who is on an official visit to Pakistan.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Awad Ahmed Algaaz, Sudanese Minister for Petroleum conveyed the greetings of Sudanese leadership for the people of Pakistan and said that his visit is aimed to find ways and means to strengthen the bilateral relations. 
 
He said that Sudan has very high quality oil with infrastructure of refineries and pipelines as well as oil exploration is vast sector which could be exploited by Pakistan investors.  The Minister further said that Sudan also wants to benefit from Pakistan’s knowledge in agriculture so that it can utilize its vast agricultural land.
 
H.E.Mr.Alshafie Ahmad Mohamed, Ambassador of Sudan in Pakistan said that Pakistan is a brotherly Islamic country who always supported Sudan on all issues. He said both countries have many similarities which should be exploited to create bilateral business and investment opportunities. The Ambassador also assured that Sudanese Embassy would always extend cooperation to Pakistani businessmen for improving trade and exports between the two countries.
 
Mr.Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI said that economy is the key for stability of a country and a strong force to keep a country united. Therefore, Pakistan and Sudan must focus on strengthening their economies, he added.
 
Mr.Bakhtawari expressed confidence that the visit of the Sudanese Minister for Petroleum and meetings with his Pakistani counterparts is productive and would pave the way for further expanding the relations.
 
He said that the import and export profiles of the two countries indicate that there is a lot of scope to increase bilateral trade as Pakistan is a major exporter of finest quality of rice, fruits and vegetables, textile manufactures, leather products and sports goods which have good potential in Sudan and other African countries.
