CDA asked to address problems of industry on priority August 07, 2014
Meeting outside ICCI

A delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry led by Acting President Muhammad Ali Mirza called on Mr. Amir Ali Ahmed, Member Administration CDA and briefed him about the problems of business community for redress.

Appreciating the efforts of Chairman CDA Mr. Maroof Afzal and Member Admn Mr. Amir Ali Ahmed for better development of Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Mirza said that CDA had promised to address the problems of industrial areas in Islamabad, but the same have not been redressed as yet due to which industrialists are facing many problems in production activities.  He said CDA should take urgent measures to address all issues of industry on priority to facilitate the growth of industrialization.

He said CDA’s current tough policy of industrial trade change is a big hurdle in growth of industry and stressed that CDA should open industrial trade change except for negative list. He said open trade change policy will yield positive results as it will encourage industrialization, create jobs and increase CDA’s revenue as well.

He said CDA’s byelaws have become quite old now and emphasized that CDA should bring modifications in its byelaws to cater to the needs of current day’s trade and industry. He said CDA should also allow construction of 5 storey buildings on industrial plots and allow setting up of IT & allied industries, which will help the industry to flourish. He said CDA should withdraw all notices to industry as such notices are creating harassment in industrialists. He assured that ICCI will cooperate with CDA in Independence Day celebrations.

Speaking at the occasion, Amir Ali Ahmed, Member Administration CDA said that businessmen are playing an important role in promoting the local economy and CDA will take all possible measures to facilitate them. He said CDA will give serious consideration to highlighted issues including open industrial trade change policy and construction of multi-storey buildings on industrial plots. He said work is already in process to upgrade building byelaws in order to facilitate the growth of business activities.

He said CDA is taking many initiatives, which will hopefully help the trade and industry to grow smoothly. Both organizations reiterated to work closely to address the concerns of entrepreneurs as well as complement each other for the better development of Islamabad as a modern city.
