Metro Bus affected Capital tradersí problems to be resolved soon-Hanif Abbasi June 18, 2015

Hanif Abbasi, Chairman, Metro Bus Project Committee has assured that the problems of Metro Bus Project (MBP) affected traders of the Capital traders, especially of Blue Area, will be resolved soon and efforts will be made to give them due compensation for the business losses. He was addressing the business community at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
 
He said government is fully cognizant of the fact that many traders, especially of Blue Area have suffered business losses during the construction of metro bus mega project and their grievances would be taken up with the relevant authorities for compensation of their losses. He said FBR would be asked to give tax relief to metro bus affected traders of Islamabad so that they could be facilitated in reviving business activities.
 
Hanif Abbasi said that an underpass and temporary overhead bridge would be constructed at Saudi-Pak Tower to connect Jinnah Avenue with Blue Area for facilitation of people. He said MBP was completed with quality work at a cost of Rs.37 billion in a transparent manner and within a short span of time due to which it has been awarded with gold certificate. He said the on-ground road of metro bus will be properly fenced and some of its adjoining spots will be further beautified. He thanked the Islamabad and Rawalpindi Chambers of Commerce for their cooperation for MBP and assured that he would soon visit Blue Area along with relevant authorities and hold meeting with CDA to resolve the problems of MBP affected traders.
 
In his welcome address, Muzzamil Hussain Sabri, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry congratulated Hanif Abbassi as well as the Federal & Punjab Governments on successful completion of this mega project that has provided a world class transport facility at affordable cost to the commuters of twin cities. He said Punjab Government’s Apna Rozgar Scheme has played positive role in reducing unemployment and stressed that such scheme should also be extended up to Islamabad so that jobless youth of the federal capital could get benefit of it.
 
He also highlighted the problems of MBP affected traders of Islamabad and stressed that those traders who have suffered great business losses due to this mega project should be given proper compensation for revival of their businesses. He said MBP affected traders of Murree Road has been given tax relief and similar relief should also be provided to the affected traders of Islamabad. Tariq Sadiq, Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi, Zafar Bakhtawari, Baser Daud, Malik Sohail Hussain, Nadeem Mansoor, Khalid Chaudhry and others also appreciated completion of MBP and highlighted Blue Area traders’ problems for early redress.
