FBR to address all e-filing issues of taxpayers-Member IT September 23, 2015

The new e-filing system of FBR has rid the people of the hassle to visit tax offices for filing of tax returns as they could now file their returns online from anywhere without wasting precious time and FBR will address all issues of e-filers to facilitate the taxpayers, observed Ms. Rana Ahmed, Member IT, Federal Board of Revenue while addressing a large number of business community. She visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry to listen to the e-filing issues of taxpayers and apprise them of the steps being taken by the FBR for their facilitation.
 
She said the previous e-filing system was not meeting the requirements of taxpayers and the new e-filing system has been developed keeping in view the modern day’s tax requirements. She said taxpayers may be facing some problems during e-filing of their income, sales and withholding tax returns, however, with the passage of time, they will get used to online system as FBR was working hectically to remove its bugs and they will find it more convenient. She said if any taxpayer is facing any problem in e-filing of returns, s/he should contact FBR helpline which is now being maintained by trained staff of the department.
 
In his welcome address, Muzzamil Hussain Sabri, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted the issues being faced by the business community in e-filing of tax returns. He said the e-filing income, sales and withholding tax return forms should be further simplified as the current forms were very complicated due to which taxpayers were facing problems in understanding and completing them. 
 
He said e-filing form of withholding tax return was uploaded by FBR on 15th August 2015 instead of 1st July 2015 due to which taxpayers were facing problems and stressed that FBR should extend its last date up to 30th October 2015 to facilitate people. M. Ashfaq Hussain Chatha, Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mian Akram Farid Vice President FPCCI, Sh. Tariq Sadiq, Mian Shaukat Masud, Mian Waqas Masud and many other businessmen highlighted various problems regarding e-filing system and urged that FBR should take measures to make its online system very simple and easier for taxpayers.
