Metro Bus affected traders demand early compensation for losses October 13, 2015
Meeting at ICCI
A delegation of Blue Area traders led by Malik Saghir, Group Chairman visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and called upon the government for early compensation of business losses they suffered during the construction of Metro Bus Project (MBP) in Islamabad. They congratulated the newly elected office bearers of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry and hoped that new body of ICCI would play effective role in resolving issues of business community.
Addressing the delegation, Atif Ikram Sheikh, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that during the construction of MBP, traders of Blue Area, Peshawar More and other areas suffered huge losses, but they have not been compensated as yet, which was regrettable. He said Punjab Government had provided tax relief to the MBP affected traders of Murree Road Rawalpindi but Federal Government has not provided any such relief to the affected traders of Islamabad, which was unjustified. He said Government should provide relief to these traders as the earliest so that they could restore their businesses.
He said traders were facing many challenges including tax issues and government should resolve their problems on priority to create conducive environment for business activities. He assured the traders’ delegation that ICCI would play positive role for promoting their business interests.
Malik Saghir Group Chairman Blue Area, Mian Akram Farid Vice President FPCCI, Malik Sohail Hussain Chief Coordinator FPCCI, Malik Yousaf and others highlighted various issues of the traders of Blue Area. They said despite suffering huge losses due to MBP, government was paying no attention to their woes. They said no U-turn was provided on main road of Blue Area due to which commuters were facing great difficulty. They said CDA had announced to build parking plazas in the Blue Area, but so far not a single parking plaza has been built due to which the largest commercial center of the federal capital was facing serious parking issues. They called upon the CDA to address these issues on priority to facilitate business activities.
Chairman Founder Group Abdul Rauf Alam said 90% issues of business community were related to CDA and thus the civic body has a big role in facilitating the growth of trade and industry. He said CDA should become proactive to resolve problems otherwise woes of business community would keep piling up. Sheikh Pervez Ahmed Senior Vice President, Sheikh Abdul Waheed Vice President ICCI, Amin Pirzada and others also spoke at the occasion and asked CDA to take remedial measures on the issues of business community.
