| Zahid Maqbool President ICCI, Karim Aziz Malik and Ahsan Bakhtawri Vice Presidents for the Year 2009-10 |

Mr. Zahid Maqbool has been elected as President, Mr. Karim Aziz Malik and
Mr. Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari as Vice Presidents of Islamabad Chamber of
Commerce & Industry (ICCI) for the year 2009-10. All the three
candidates of Founder Group has been elected unopposed as no other
candidate turned up to file papers against them.
Mr. Zahid Maqbool belongs to the traders’ community and represents
M/s. Maqbool Enterprises Pakistan. Mr. Karim Aziz Malik is an industrialist
representing M/s. Fazal Steel (Pvt) Limited while Mr. Ahsan Zafar
Bakhtawari represents M/s. D.Watson Chemists. With this election, the
second phase of ICCI elections has now been completed.
The final results will be announced on September 30, 2009 in the Annual
General Meeting of ICCI while the elected office bearers will take charge
from 1st October 2009.
Speaking on the occasion, Zahid Maqbool said that business community has
posed a great confidence in me by electing me as President of ICCI and I
will leave no stone unturned to come up to their expectation for promotion
of their interests.
Congratulating the newly elected office bearers, Mian Shaukat Masud,
President, ICCI hoped that the new team will continue the good tradition of
their predecessors to promote the interests of business community by doing
policy advocacy with government for creating more business friendly
environment in the country.
Khalid Javed, Founder Group Chairman said unopposed victory of
Group’s nominees speaks volumes of its smart performance and
expressed his optimism that the new office bearers will take ICCI to new
heights by putting in their best efforts for the business community.
ICCI former President Munawar Mughal said that majority of ICCI members
were small traders, which was clear proof of Founder Group’s pledge
to protect their rights and added that there was no justification for any
small traders’ chamber in Islamabad as ICCI was already giving small
traders proper representation in decision making forums.
Large number of businessmen on this occasion congratulated the newly
elected office bearers of ICCI and hoped for better performance from them
for safeguard of their interests.
